KEYNOTE TITLE: The Carrot, The Egg and the Coffee Bean
Stirring the Pot of Leadership Styles

Let’s face it, Agile is where it’s at. And while the rest of the world struggles with prioritizing product backlogs, velocity, burn down charts, requirements and role playing, we should be most concerned with your focus of leadership style. Perhaps this is one of the biggest challenges we face when it comes to “the cultural” change that is spoken of, but rarely taken seriously when agile practices are thrust upon us. Are your projects likely to fail because of your lack of leadership?

"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” John C. Maxwel

The traditional project management tasks and activities are now shifting from command and control to servant leadership approach. What does this mean for you as a project manager or business analyst working with stakeholders, developers and testers? It means that you must shift your ways to consider your role as coach of collaboration, as a coach of problem solving as a coach of conflict and above anything else as coach of your own self-awareness.
Not buying it yet? Ask yourself the following questions;

1. Are you attached to the outcomes of a project or solution, or are you committed to how the team works together?

2. Are you solving the problems or is the team solving the problem as a result of you asking them for their input?

3.Do you speak more than you listen?

4.Are you afraid to let the team learn from their mistakes (within reason of course!)

If you answered yes to the first half of any of the above questions, and you are in a contributing role that will be required in an agile environment, then this coaching session is for you.
